Double Vision
July 28, 2022
Today we added another chapter to the story with the Parable of the Good Samaritan. I introduced it by speaking of double vision – seeing up and down at the same time. In other words, looking to God in prayer and praise, while simultaneously obeying God by looking to see the needs of people around us and working to meet those needs – love God and love your neighbor. As usual, the kids understood very well. The day was filled with music, games, laughter, learning, and beauty.
During our closing team meeting to process the day, Clara, one of the students (a student Carolyn had in her class in 2017) requested to sit in with us to hear our team devotions. After we did that, she asked if she could share something, and we all said yes. She proceeded to quietly but firmly “testify” of her faith in Jesus, speaking of God’s forgiveness and the gift of salvation. Tears were shed. If we ever questioned our work in this place, those questions were put to rest in that Spirit-led serendipitous moment. It was a good day.
Pictures below show the area surrounding the village of Kastriot, Carolyn’s class learning English words, and the Outreach Center.
