Day Two: Trusting God When We Make Mistakes

June 11, 2024

Greetings from Latvia!

As the sun rose on the second day of our English Language Bible Camp, we gathered with a sense of anticipation and reflection. Today, our theme was “Trust When We Make a Mistake.” This powerful lesson was drawn from the story of Moses in Exodus 2:11-22, reminding us that God can use our mistakes to teach us to trust Him.

A Story

We started the day one of our team members sharing a heartfelt story from childhood. He recounted a time when he made a mistake that deeply impacted another person. Although it remains an unhappy memory for him, in the testimony he emphasized how God used that mistake for good. This personal anecdote set a thoughtful tone for the day, encouraging everyone to think about their own experiences and the lessons learned from them.

The Lesson of Moses

We delved into the story of Moses, exploring how he grew up in Pharaoh’s palace but never forgot his roots as an Israelite. Moses made a grave mistake by killing an Egyptian who was beating an Israelite slave. In his fear and guilt, Moses fled to Midian, where he thought he could escape his past. However, God had a plan for Moses, even in his time of exile.

While in Midian, Moses met and helped Jethro’s daughters, leading to his acceptance into their family and marriage to Zipporah. Despite Moses’ mistake, God was preparing him for a greater purpose – to lead the Israelites out of slavery. This story teaches us that our mistakes do not define us; rather, God can use them to shape our future and His plans for us.

Reflection and Discussion

Throughout the day, campers engaged in discussions about their own mistakes and how they’ve seen God work through them. It was a time of vulnerability and support, as everyone shared their stories and listened to others. The lesson of Moses connected with many, providing comfort that their past mistakes could be part of God’s bigger picture.

Health and Well-being

A few campers have caught colds, and we are praying for their swift recovery. We ask for your prayers for the health of all our campers and team members. Good health is crucial for us to continue having meaningful conversations and sharing the Gospel effectively.

Call to Action

As we think about today’s theme, we invite you to join us in prayer:

  • Pray for Health: Please pray for the good health of our campers and team members.
  • Pray for Opportunities: Continue to pray for opportunities to have meaningful conversations with those at the camp, that they may feel the presence and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
  • Share Our Journey: We encourage you to share our ministry blog with friends and family. By spreading the word, you can help us reach more people with the powerful message of God’s love and forgiveness.

Thank you for following our journey. Your support and prayers are invaluable to us. We look forward to sharing more stories and lessons from our Bible Camp in the days to come.
