Pastor David Breidenbach joined the staff as Executive Director in March 2015. He is a dual-rostered clergy member of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) and the North American Lutheran Church (NALC).
Formerly a spiritual orphan himself, David was not reared in the faith and did not hear the Gospel until he was 25 years old. It is, therefore, his passion that all people should be given the opportunity to hear and know they are a child of God and belong to the global family of Christ.
David spent 14-years at his previous call, where he served as Associate Pastor and Director of Overseas Missions at Faith Lutheran Church (LCMC) in Albuquerque, NM. Faith Lutheran also sent out Pr. David and his wife, Angela, in early 2010, to plant a second, satellite campus serving the people on Albuquerque’s Westside and city of Rio Rancho, where Pr. Breidenbach served as Lead Pastor until accepting his call with SON Network.
Pr. David & Angela and (later) daughters, Rachel & Emily, began serving with SON (then EEMN) in 2006, leading teams to Poland, Ukraine, Slovakia and Russia. As their love for the ministry grew, so did the connection to the people they were serving. When Pastor David had the opportunity to join the staff as Executive Director, it was an easy decision.
A second career pastor; David began his internship in 2004 at Faith Lutheran in Albuquerque and was commissioned as a contract-call pastor under LCMC guidelines, on Easter 2006. After completing his seminary education, David was ordained in November 2007. In his first career, David worked for 14-years in the broadcast television production industry and also owned and managed a commercial voice-over studio.
Pr. David attended the University of Albuquerque and UNM. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in biblical and theological studies and his Master of Divinity degree in biblical and theological studies from Trinity Southwest University at Albuquerque, NM.
Pr. David and his wife, Angela, married in 1991. They have two adult daughters, three international daughters (from Ukraine and Albania), two sons-in-law, and three grandchildren.
In his spare time, David enjoys focusing time on his family, personal fitness, music, reading, travel, photography, home renovation, the great outdoors, and vintage automobiles.
Angela Breidenbach

Along with her husband, David, Angela Breidenbach took her first trip with SON (then EEMN) to Ukraine in 2007 where she discovered her gift of working with children and youth. Beginning in 2008, Pastor David and Angela took their daughters (then 11 and 14) to Slovakia. This began their family’s love of working in East and Central Europe, the Baltics and the Balkans.
In November of 2016, Angela joined the SON staff, leaving a 30-year career in Finance Operations. Because of her background, she had been able to implement a database that helps us to correctly track support trends and recognize our donors. Additionally, she has streamlined and documented financial processes, created standardized business policies, and has professionalized business operations to ensure the health of SON Network into the future.
Angela’s real love is continuing to work with the students who attend the English Bible Camps and Life and Adventure Camps each summer. She enjoys writing the curriculum for the Life and Adventure Camps and works on the committees that create the English Bible Camp curriculum and resources. She is also responsible for all aspects of coordinating the summer teams.
In her spare time, Angela loves to read (daily Bible devotions and historical fiction are her favorites); cook special meals for family and friends; and spend time with two grown daughters, Rachel & Emily; their husband’s, Brian and Conrad; and three grandkids, Augustine, Elias, and Aurelia.
Mike Wind

Mike Wind left his Corporate career in April of 2006 and within 2 months, he and his family were on their way to Estonia to lead a Family Camp. Mike has been involved in Central and Eastern Europe ever since and has led dozens of conferences, workshops and seminars overseas as well as in the USA. Over the last 15 years, Mike has developed strong relationships and a deep love for investing in people so that they can invest in others.
Mike’s interests include his family, music, hockey, football, basketball, baseball, travel, working on his house and spending time outdoors.
Mike has an undergraduate degree in Statistics from the University of Illinois and Masters of Business Administration degree from the Keller Graduate School of Management. He has 3 children and is married to Nancy Wunderlich-Wind.
Pastor Mark Wilhelm

Pastor Mark Wilhelm joined the staff of Spiritual Orphans Network as Director of Donor Growth & Formation on August 1, 2025. He is a dual-rostered pastor with Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) and the North American Lutheran Church (NALC).
Prior to joining SON, Mark served most recently as Senior Pastor of West County Lutheran Church in St. Louis, MO. Over the course of his parish ministry, he been involved in two church starts and in one Redevelopment. In these settings, he consistently emphasized discipleship, spiritual formation, and intentional stewardship. Mark initiated congregation-wide discipleship ministries in two of his major calls and led multiple successful annual stewardship and capital campaigns, helping churches cultivate a deeper sense of calling, generosity, and purpose.
Mark first served with SON (then EEMN) in 2005, joining a short-term mission team to Latvia. Over the past two decades, he has returned to Latvia many times—leading or participating in approximately 15 mission trips, co-leading a discipleship conference for Latvian and Estonian leaders, and taking part in a partner visit to Belarus. He also served on a short-term mission trip to South Africa. The alignment between his pastoral calling and the mission of SON became increasingly clear over time: “There’s a deep joy when your God-given identity and gifting meet a God-ordained need.”
In 2025, through a season of Holy Discontent and spiritual discernment, Mark shared his sense of unrest with longtime friends at SON. What began as a conversation seeking wisdom soon turned into a call to action. Recognizing that his discontent was not a detour but a divine nudge, Mark accepted the invitation to join the staff and serve in this new season of ministry.
Before entering full-time ministry, Mark worked in the IT field, managing multiple aspects of local area networking. This experience fostered a love for creative problem-solving, self-directed learning, and strategic thinking—skills that continue to shape his work today.
Mark earned his B.A. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, with a focus in experimental design and physiological/cognitive psychology. He holds a Master of Divinity from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, Columbia, SC.
Mark and his wife, Julia, were married in 1990. They have two adult children: Katharine, who is married to Jacob and recently welcomed their first son (Mark and Julia’s first grandchild), and Erik, who is married to Lex and currently in graduate school.
In his spare time, Mark enjoys cooking for a crowd, especially when BBQ is involved, as well as reading biographies, historical fiction, devotional classics, and the occasional sci-fi novel. He also enjoys hiking, biking, jazz music, and being outdoors whenever possible.
Rachel Haseley

Rachel Haseley is a communications strategist and storyteller who is passionate about connecting with people through meaningful content and authentic relationships. She currently serves with Spiritual Orphans Network (SON), where she leads communications efforts that share stories of faith, foster global partnerships, and invite others into God’s mission. With a background in education and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Rachel brings both creativity and strategy to her work, developing campaigns, digital resources, and community engagement that amplify vision and impact.
Beyond her professional role, Rachel’s own story has been shaped by faith, family, and adventure. She and her husband Jonathan, a pastor, have shared the journey of ministry together, from church planting to multi-campus ministry, and even revitalization of a historic church burned in a fire. They have experienced much of the United States through long drives as they moved from their hometown of Buffalo to Omaha and back again. Along the way, Rachel has embraced the call of raising and homeschooling their three children, finding joy in weaving learning and life together.
When she’s not working or homeschooling, you can find Rachel enjoying time outdoors with her family, baking something sweet, playing or listening to music, or diving into hobbies that refresh her creativity. She thrives on helping others feel seen and connected and serving in whatever capacity she is called to fill!

Danette Edgar joined the SON staff in 2018 as Office Manager & Bookkeeper. She is married to a full-time, parish pastor and, together, they have five children, aged elementary-adult. She has a huge heart for ministry and reaching people with the Gospel; and always brings light into a room with her infectious smile and great attitude.
