Pastor David Breidenbach

Executive Director

Read Pastor David’s Biography

Pastor David Breidenbach joined the staff as Executive Director in March 2015. He is a dual-rostered clergy member of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) and the North American Lutheran Church (NALC).

David spent 14-years at his previous call, where he served as Associate Pastor and Director of Overseas Missions at Faith Lutheran Church (LCMC) in Albuquerque, NM. Faith Lutheran also sent out Pr. David and his wife, Angela, in early 2010, to start a second, satellite campus serving the people on Albuquerque’s Westside and city of Rio Rancho, where Pr. Breidenbach served as Lead Pastor until accepting his call with SON Network.

Beginning in 2006, David & Angela, and their family, participated as volunteers, hosted fundraising events, and served as team leaders for short-term summer missions with SON (then EEMN) to former communist and Soviet bloc nations, including Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus. They also developed strong relationships and hosted in their home, strategic partners in ministry from Ukraine, Latvia, and Belarus. It was through these experiences in short-term summer missions and in developing relationships and a genuine love for the people of Central & Eastern Europe that made the indelible impression and solidified their sense of call and passion for a life in full-time missions work – connecting ministry partners, discipling Christ-followers, equipping the saints, and helping develop sustainable ministries in obedience to the Great Commission.

A second career pastor; David began his internship in 2004 at Faith Lutheran in Albuquerque and was commissioned as a contract-call pastor under LCMC guidelines, on Easter 2006. After completing his seminary education, David was ordained in November 2007.  In his first career, David worked for 14-years in the broadcast television production industry and also owned and managed a commercial voice-over studio.

Pr. David attended the University of Albuquerque and UNM. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in biblical and theological studies and his Master of Divinity degree in biblical and theological studies from Trinity Southwest University at Albuquerque, NM.

Pr. David and his wife, Angela, married in 1991. They have two adult daughters, two sons-in-law, and one grandchild, with another on the way in fall 2020.

David’s interests include his family, music, reading, travel, photography, the great outdoors, four-wheeling, and vintage automobiles.

Angela Breidenbach

Director of Operations and Youth Education
Albuquerque, NM

Read Angela’s Biography

Along with her husband, Pastor David Breidenbach, Angela took her first trip with SON (then EEMN) to Ukraine in 2007 where she discovered her gift of working with children and youth. Beginning in 2008, Pastor David and Angela took their daughters (then 9 and 13) to Slovakia. This began their family’s love of working in East and Central Europe, the Baltics and the Balkans.

In November of 2016, Angela joined the SON staff, leaving a 30-year career in Finance Operations. Because of her background, she had been able to implement a database that helps us to correctly track support trends and recognize our donors. Additionally, she has streamlined and documented financial processes, created standardized business policies, and has professionalized business operations to ensure the health of SON Network into the future.

Angela’s real love is continuing to work with the students who attend the English Bible Camps and Life and Adventure Camps each summer. She enjoys writing the curriculum for the Life and Adventure Camps and works on the committees that create the English Bible Camp curriculum and resources. She is also responsible for all aspects of coordinating the summer teams.

In her spare time, Angela loves to read (daily Bible devotions and historical fiction are her favorites); cook special meals for family and friends; and spend time with two grown daughters, Rachel & Emily; their husband’s, Brian and Conrad; and grandson, Augustine. Pastor David and Angela are looking forward to becoming grandparents again in September 2020.

Born in ND, Bob grew up in Roseau, MN, graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead MN, and from Luther Seminary in St. Paul. He married Karen in 1967 and their first call was to Papua New Guinea, where they served for over a decade. On returning from the mission field in 1982, Bob took calls to western ND, first to Taylor and Richardton, and in 1985 to Charity Lutheran in Bismarck where he served for 25 years. This congregation sent them on a sabbatical in 2006 to Estonia and Latvia, which would bring a big change in their ministry.  Bob received a new call in 2010, recycling back into global mission work with SON (then EEMN). He travels the Midwest telling the story of the church in the former Soviet Union, with a particular focus in building SON partnerships in Estonia.

Bob married Patti April 2, 2016. (Karen died suddenly from a stroke in 2013, and Patti’s first husband, Allan, died in 2006) They make their home on the prairies near Bismarck, ND on a 40-acre ranch. Bob has two grown and married children; Karl (son) and Tina live in Edgerton, WI, and Siri (daughter) and Mike live in Minneapolis, with their children, Elena 9 and Stella 7. Patti has two grown children, Andy (son) and Bernadette live on the ranch, and Alli (daughter) and Johnny live in Bismarck with Eloise 8, Aliza 5, Darla 3 and Clara 6 months.

Together they enjoy continuing ministry with SON Network, focusing in Estonia working with pastors, church leaders and lay workers. They enjoy a log cabin in central MN and a “small house” in Minneapolis., in Siri and Mike’s backyard! The ranch brings a lot of peace and joy, with big gardens, cows, sheep, chickens, pigs and bees!

Bob enjoys his annual Men’s Canadian fishing trip (32 years), downhill skiing, cycling, camping and hiking, some of which are also on Patti’s list of things. They are thankful for shared, mostly daily, devotional times reading through the Bible with D.A. Carson’s For the Love of God.
