RUZOMBEROK EBC – DAY 3

July 17, 2024

Day 3 of English Bible Camp is completed.

Wednesday is known as the peak of camp as the students have become much more comfortable in speaking in English and hugging their American teachers. We are also beginning end of camp preparations knowing that there will be a final program for parents and family and that it is coming quickly.

Today’s theme was “Trusting God When We Feel Unworthy”.

Again Pastor Daniel with the help of Mike Wind and the Strine kids, did a skit about the “famous” Slovak hockey player who not only lost a game, but lost all his fans and no one wanted to be around him or even play recreationally with him.

The songs have been hummed and sang throughout the days by translators and students alike! It’s been a great connection point for everyone! One teacher was singing songs with the kids and the students asked if it was time for music, saddened to hear that it wasn’t. The students really enjoy the motions and the words! “Jesus Loves Me”, “Friends of God”, and “His Love Never Fails” all uplift and reinforce the fact that God doesn’t reject us even when others do, and that He loves us even when we may feel unworthy. God is our friend and He loves us.

In crafts the kids made a sun catcher that had a scene of the Burning Bush, taken from the story of when God called Moses to go to Egypt to give Pharaoh a message ” Let My People Go”. Of course in the story Moses felt unworthy to be used by God until God convinced him otherwise. Moses had to step into the role God had called him to, even though he had made a mistake. God still loved him and wanted to use him for His greater plans!

Today in sports, there was a nice breeze and the students had a great time running around more! There was less sweat and more pep so Steve and Colin got a nice soccer game going for the kids, and Pastor Daniel and the adults joined in! We got to see some super footwork and intense plays made!

After camp, pastor Daniel took us to a historical village in the mountain side and afterwards we were treated to another restaurant that served traditional Slovakian food. The homes are over 300 years old and the village holds the grounds very intentionally for generational passing of houses. Outsiders can walk through the village and some still live their full time but often the homes are for weekends and Summer visits. It is very serene and special to have a home in this treasured area! The food was wonderful and it was one of the first dinners we were able to have together as a whole team! We are grateful for our health and stamina and close bond with one another on such a big adventure!

While we know the time is coming to a close, we are grateful for each session we have with our students and what God continues to call us to and calls us to do. Check out some of the pictures by our unofficial team photographer Rae and stay tuned for more content from Ružomberok!

While that’s it for now, we hope you continue to journey with us and see the sights through our photos and fun. Continue to keep us in prayer . Blessings from your Ružomberok, Slovakia EBC team.
