RUZOMBEROK EBC – DAY 4

July 18, 2024

We had a very busy fourth day of English Bible Camp today.

The theme today was “Trusting God When We Need Help”.

Pastor Daniel once again played the once famous Slovak hockey player who needed help to rediscover his purpose in life. Mike Wind was able to show breaking news from ancient Israel news reporter David & Rachel who reported on how Moses needed help from Aaron and Hur to defeat their enemies. The kids really loved the reenactment and the excitement from DMC “on scene” in the battlefield!

Crafts was buzzing as the students were making fish. The students took creative liberty with the fish and showed the uniqueness that they each have by adding rainbows and hearts and some very intricate scale patterns. During the music rotation the kids went over the songs they will perform for tomorrow’s closing program. Each class is also preparing to perform skits based on different stories on the life of Moses. One exciting thing to witness is the energy that many students have for the crafts and the music rotation; nothing really falls flat and they celebrate every activity done together at the camp. The students have really caught on with the actions in music and sing very loudly and passionately. You can hear them singing the songs throughout the day! DMC took some time to sit with the students and allow them to ask questions. When you allow the students a chance to ask questions, they really open up and have deep ideas to be addressed.

Lunch was a very special treat as they made us tasty pancakes with chocolate sauce, poweder sugar and cream. The meals have all been amazing and our team members all really enjoy the Slovak dishes. Even though it’s been a little hot for soup, we still are mostly indulging in the traditional first course each day and have not been disappointed as far as soups go!

In the evening the church invited both the American team and their translators for a very delicious home cooked meal by the church president and a few of the women of the congregation. We enjoyed eating in the beautiful church garden with our new Slovak friends. While eating the many courses of amazing dishes, we shared many laughs and interesting conversations, drawing us closer as the end draws near of our time together. We are thankful for our time together and grateful for social media to stay connected! Rachel and Rae took the translators aside to spend some time together capturing the thoughts of the translators about the camp this year. The time together was jovial and heartwarming.

Tomorrow is our last day of English Bible Camp. It is always a bittersweet moment to have to say goodbye to the students we had all week. We keep in mind and are filled with hope that we planted a lot of seeds this week and another team from next year will water what was planted. We know it is God who will make it grow in His time. Continue to pray for our awesome kids, the amazing translators, and the impact made in Slovakia!

Blessings from your Ružomberok, Slovakia EBC team.
