Albania Camp (Week 1: Day 1)
June 30, 2025
“I once was lost, but now I’m found.”
There’s something powerful in those words. When we are lost—whether through pain, confusion, or disobedience—God doesn’t abandon us. He searches. He pursues. And when we allow Him, He rescues us from wandering and welcomes us home.
Day 1 of English Bible Camp in Peshkopi—a town whose name fittingly means “bishop”—was filled with energy, purpose, and unexpected joy. Around 70 students from grades 5 through 9 packed into the assembly room at Qendra Alfa Omega Church, led by Pastor Ermal and Sarah Lushi. Most of these kids come from homes where fathers work abroad to support their families. Many have never heard the Gospel before. And yet, they arrived eager—eager to sing, to create, to learn English… and to be known.
Our Bible lessons centered around the things that are easily lost, but deeply treasured: a sheep, a coin, a son. Luke 15 was our anchor, reminding us that we are God’s most precious creation, and He rejoices when we are found—when we repent, return, and rest in His embrace. These timeless parables aren’t just stories; they’re the heartbeat of our mission this week.
Campers were divided into international-themed teams—like France, Argentina, Mexico—and set off on a week of friendly competition. Each team will design flags, invent chants, and represent their group in games, crafts, and team spirit. The goal is more than fun; it’s connection. Kids from different villages are already building friendships that may last a lifetime. One student even traveled two hours to be here—an incredible reminder that what we’re celebrating matters.
By the end of Day 1, it was clear: these students are hungry—for love, for truth, for belonging. And we believe that if they catch even a glimpse of the God who sees them, knows them, and celebrates when they are found—this week will be more than worth it.
