Albania Camp (Week 2) Teen Camp Day 2

“Living a Full Life”
Day 2: Teen Camp
What are you filling your life with? Yes, we know you’re not supposed to end a sentence in a preposition – especially in an English camp. Nevertheless, we began today with that question.
What commands our time? What are our daily priorities? Do they complement or compete with God’s calling in our lives? Do you know what God’s calling is in your life? Frederich Buechner, an American author and minister, said that “The place where God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.” In other words, we should fill our days with choices that reflect God’s plan for our lives and serve the deep needs of others. But, it is often difficult, if not impossible to see God’s purpose, for us if we’re filling our days with mere distractions.
We illustrated this by asking each small group to solve jig saw puzzles with the pieces faced down. They were not allowed to see the full picture, or the picture at all, really. The pieces represented the choices we make in any given day. Do we devote hours to sports, diligently study for school, enjoy coffee with friends (BTW, Albanians love their “kafe”), or wasting hours scrolling on social media alone? We can fill our days with “good” activties. But, if they are not aligned with God’s purpose for us, we’re just sloshing along, schedules full, busy, yet empty. Never truly fulfilled.
Only Jesus’s voice, only obeying God’s calling and His purpose, will we truly be full-filled.

Day 2, Women’s Refresher
Kids weren’t the only ones sharpening their 2nd language. Team members Carolyn Lee and Sara Lushi invited a group of local women to improve their English skills. Through conversations, games and activities they are relishing their time while getting to know each other. Most are teachers learning alongside a psychologist and local government worker. This is year two of Alpha Omega church’s outreach program for women, and to help meet more of the community’s needs.
